Entertainer Felix Odiwuor known by his stage name as Jalang’o has resigned from his radio job at Kiss FM to vie for the Lang’ata parliamentary seat.
Hosting his last breakfast show on February 9th, Jalang’o announced that he is officially embarking on his new political journey.
He took the opportunity to thank his employer and bid goodbye to his radio fans for the support they have been giving him.
“I begin a new chapter to go and try politics after being told over time that the young people’s time is coming, we are not young anymore, if we waited any longer the time we are told will have passed,” said Jalang’o.
He further vowed to be an exemplary leader who will redeem the negative public image of the oppression in Kenya.
“It is a dream that I am going to try and be different and show people that good leaders are still there,” said Jalang’o.
He admitted it was emotional to say goodbye to his colleagues as well as his fans and that the journey ahead of him is not easy, so he has to resign and focus on politics for now.
“Today marks the end of this amazing journey and I’m trying to begin a new one. I want to give this new one full focus. Even if I wanted to stay here and the rules did not demand that I resign, the journey I’m going on is not as easy as anybody would think,” he said.
Jalang’o who had announced earlier this year that he will vie for the Lang’ata parliamentary seat under the Raila Odinga led Orange Democratic Movement.
The comedian has however said that he will go back to his radio career in the event that his political bid flops.
