I can’t fly out of Tanzania without a special permit,Diamond claims

Tanzanian Bongo artist Diamond Platinumz now claims that Tanzanian government has barred him from leaving the country without a special permit.

During an interview with Wasafi FM the singer said he can never leave the country freely like other artists and Tanzania customs have placed additional requirements on artists fom his record label.

“I think it is something for Wasafi signed artists, we are not allowed to go beyond the airport without a permit from the authorities,” said Diamond.

“The moment I get there I am told I am supposed to have a permit which costs Sh50,000,” he furthered.

The Jeje hitmaker also noted that he is usually forced to get the permit even when travelling for non-business matters or even when visiting his children in South Africa.

Tanzania’s National Arts Council (BASATA)through its acting CEO, Matiko Muniko refuted the claims that the law is imposed to every artist traveling abroad for a performance.

“The law is very clear to every artist, not just certain individuals, all artists traveling abroad for performance are required to pay a permit from BASATA at a fee of sh50,000,” said Muniko.

Diamond who is currently on a media tour to publicize his latest EP,First Of All(FOA) vowed that he is ready to work with Bongo heavyweight Ali kiba whom they’ve been having a difference for a long time.

“Ali nina heshima yake ambayo nampea pakubwa ,tokea alipo toka mpaka leo anapambana kuwepo pale …sio jambo ndogo,ni jambo kubwa sana hakuna kitu ngumu kama ku maintain status, kwa hivyo namhheshimu sana,” said Diamond.
