Employment and Labour Relations Court in Nyeri county has issued a warrant of arrest against Embu governor Martin Wambora and three other county officials.
The governor alongside County Secretary County Jason Nyagah, the Finance and Economic Planning Executive John Njagi and his Chief Officer Ruth Ndirangu were faulted for failing to appear in court.
Last week, the four officials were found in contempt of court over Kenya County Government Workers’ Union Statutory fees remittance.
Justice Marete directed the Nyeri OCS to arrest the four officials for defying court order issued in December instructing them to oblige to the directive.
In October 2021, the workers accused governor Wambora and the County Public Service Board for failing to adhere to their plea.
This is after the workers staged a demonstration citing poor working conditions and salaries as part of their grievances.
Other workers claimed that they couldn’t access loans as they had been blacklisted by the Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
