Erick Theuri has been elected the new president of Law Society of Kenya(LSK) in the Thursday election.
Theuri beat former LSK Vice President Caroline Kamende,former LSK Council Member Omwanza Ombati,Coast branch chairman Mathew Nyabena and Bernard Kipkoech who served as LSK treasurer.
The former Nairobi branch LSK chairman succeeds Nelson Havi who is eyeing for Westlands Parliamentary seat in the August polls.
He commended the electoral process and thanked his competitors for conceding defeat.
“All glory to God, Thanks, my worthy competitors for a race well ran and conceding defeat. We forge forward,” said Theuri.
Theuri in his speech, said he will work to bring the society to its glory days and work together with everyone to make this a success.
He urged that people should forget the past and move forward by working together in unity.
Havi was among those who congratulated Theuri promising to support and guide him.
“My friend Theuri Erick Njeru, the weight of public office will for 2 years weigh heavily on shoulders as the 50th president of LSK . unlike my predecessor, i will let you work and support you should you require my counsel. May succeed where i failed and improve on what i did,” said Havi.
The polls were conducted by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission across 25 LSK polling stations.
Theuri will assume his role on March 25, 2022 during LSK’s Annual General Meeting.
