Time to reap, Hotels fully booked in Kisumu ahead of Africities Summit in May

Hotels and Restaurants in Kisumu are yet to reap well from the Africities Conference that is set to be held two months from now.

The continental summit has already seen all the 2000 accredited hotels in Kisumu fully booked.

This has forced the organizers to seek for at least 7000 accomodations spaces in the counties bordering Kisumu.

The organizers are also seeking for Air BnBs to also host the overwhelming number of guests expected in the city.

The county government has however noted that they are expanding infrastructure to accommodate the 10,000 delegates expected at the summit.

According to Tourism Executive Member Achie Alai, they are also working with the hotels to get proper entertainment that will showcase the culture of Kenyans.

“We will be asking hotels to give us their entertainment programmes for each of the four nights so as to get to inform the guests who may need the varieties to sample,” she said.

The conference will kick of on May 17th.
