Forfeit that money to the state, ARA tells campus girl who received Sh109 million from a Belgium boyfriend

Felesta Nyamathira,a 21 year old college student is at risk of loosing sh109 million she received from his Belgium boyfriend after a state agency filed a formal application to have her forfeit the money.

Asset Recovery Agency(ARA) through an application filed before the High Court in Nairobi claimed that she had falsely acquired the money.

ARA said that after conducting thorough investigation into Nyamathira’s financial accounts,they established that she is a member of international fraudster ring and was directly involved in a crime.

“We have discovered that she is part of a syndicate involving complex money laundering schemes with individuals from various countries including Belgium from where she received the money on the pretext that it was a gift from her boyfriend,” said ARA through lawyer Stephen Githinji.

Githinji told the court that Nyamathira, a student from Nairobi Technical Training Institute executed money laundering scheme to conceal the nature of her funds sources.

The student reportedly  crossed the Namanga boarders  and went to Tanzania in October 2nd, 2021 to hide when she was summon by the ARA to come out clean on the source of the money deposited in her bank.

The agency wants Nyamathira’s USD914,967( Sh104,205,591) held at Cooperative bank and Sh5 million held at Stanbic bank to forfeited to the state over allegation that she was being used by her foreign partners to launder money.
