The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reported that 79 Kenyan students who were in Ukraine have been evacuated.
In statement, the ministry sighted that 74 students had crossed over to Poland while 4 others are in Romania and Hungary.
This comes after the government negotiated for unrestricted entry for kenyans into the neighboring Europian Union(EU) countries.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the Honorary Consul in Kiev has been monitoring the developments in Ukraine, especially the well being of Kenyan nationals who have been caught up in the conflict. We wish to inform you that so far all registered kenyans in Ukraine are reported safe,” read the statement.
One student has already returned to the country while 4 others showed no interest in leaving the country due to personal reasons.
According to a report by the Principal Secretary Macharia Kamau released on Friday, all the 201 Kenyans in Ukraine are safe even as Russian invasion continues.
The government advised kenyans who are living in Ukraine to consider leaving the country and stay safe until further notice.
