
Kenya’s embassy to Ukraine has issued an alert to Kenyans living in Eastern European nation to vacate following the attack by Russia on Thursday.
The embassy which is based in the Country’s capital Kyiv, issued a statement on Friday to all Kenyans studying or living in Ukraine.
“Following the escalating tension and attack on Ukrainian territory by the Russian Federation on February 24, 2022, all Kenyans living or studying in Ukraine are hereby advised to urgently consider leaving Ukraine and stay away until further notice” read part of the statement.
“Those who wish to remain, are strongly advised to exercise increased caution,” the embassy added.
This comes after Kwale Women Representative Zuleikha Hassan wanted the Foreign Affair ministry to explain which plans they had to ensure Kenyans caught up in Ukraine crisis are safe and how can they get back home.
Other countries such has Nigeria have also made a similar move to evacuate its citizens.
The Invasion according to Russian President Vladimir Putin, was allegedly sanctioned to protect the independence of two self-proclaimed within Ukraine, Donetsk and Luhansk.
