Nairobi County Assembly is mourning their Deputy Minority leader Hon. Mellab Atemah Lumalah.
The nominated Member of County Assembly from the Orange Democratic Movement passed on Monday morning while receiving treatment in India.
Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Benson Muturi confirmed the death of the legislator saying that her demise is still a shock to the members.
“It’s a sad moment for us, we have lost one of our own who has been sick for a while. Atemah was part of the house leadership and carried her duties effectively,” said Muturi.
Her colleagues in the Assembly among them the Minority Whip Peter Imwatok eulogised Atemah as a loyal member who was respected by everyone.
“Its indeed very sad for us as a family of ODM to loose a great friend and powerful support base of baba in the Assembly more so our Deputy Minority leader, may her soul rest with Angels,” he said.
Atemah has been praised by various individuals to be a great leader who served diligently.
In 2020, the late Atemah was appointed the Deputy Minority leader as ODM streamlined its leadership at the Assembly.
Atemah was eyeing the Kabiru Member of County Assembly in the August general elections.
