Former Mt.Elgon Member of Parliament John Serut has passed on at Nairobi hospital after a long battle with cancer.
Serut died in the morning of Wednesday,February 16th having been in and out of hospital after being diagnosed with multiple Myeloma in January 2020.
His daughter, Michelle Serut said his father succumbed to cancer after years of battling the disease.
In October 2021, his family appealed to the public to help them settle the overwhelming medical bill.
Mitchelle revealed that the family had spent sh.20 million to treat the former MP and that they had ran out of what they had.
“We have had bills totaling around sh.20 million since his diagnosis and we’ve treated them like family till now, hence this fundraiser,” Michelle said.
Michelle explained the family needed more money to cover insurance after they ran out of what they had.
The former legislator died at the age of 67.
